The Baita Hangar is located in the Hohhot

Airport, providing the maintenance base for

the airplanes of Air China. As an airplane park-

nnnn

ing and maintenance site, the hangar is the

most important infrastructure at the airport.

The building was designed by CAPDI, con-

nnnn

structed by Beijing Jinggang Group, and mon-

nnnn

itored by Guwanhe Construction Supervision

Co., Ltd. The hangar covers nearly 46,000 m2

nnnn

and provides the maintenance area for B737-

nnnn

300, B737-800 and Airbus 319 airplanes. The

nnnn

building also facilitates components storage

nnnn

and houses a library, workshop, engineer rest

nnnn

room and training room.

Critical issues

• Hohhot is located in northern China where

nnnn

the winter period normally lasts for six

nnnn

months and the temperature can reach as

nnnn

low as -30 °C Maintenance under such cold

nnnn

conditions can be very difficult, especially

nnnn

during windy weather.

• In the spring and autumn it's very windy and

nnnn

dusty in Hohhot. Sand can easily blow into

nnnn

most parts of the plane during maintenance,

nnnn

causing safety problems.

• The hangar is a relocation project. The

nnnn

reinstalled in a new hangar, and this
