Purpose

nnnn

A blast nozzle accelerates the air and

nnnn

abrasive as the mixture exits the end of the

nnnn

hose. The length of the nozzle's inlet

nnnn

determines the pattern and velocity of the

nnnn

abrasive exiting the nozzle. The

nnnn

composition of the liner material

nnnn

determines its resistance to wear.

nnnn

Requirements for Operation

nnnn

Nozzles are sized by the diameter of

nnnn

their orifices in 1/16-inch increments. A

nnnn

No. 2 nozzle has a 2/16-inch (1/8-inch)

nnnn

orifice, a No. 3 nozzle has a 3/16-inch

nnnn

orifice, etc. The size of the nozzle orifice

nnnn

determines abrasive and air consumption.

nnnn

Air consumption is measured in cubic feet

nnnn

per minute (cfm) at a given pressure. See

nnnn

the air and abrasive consumption chart on

nnnn

the back of this page.

nnnn

When choosing a nozzle, consider the

nnnn

amount of available air in cfm, the

nnnn

capacity of the blast machine and the

nnnn

inside diameter of the piping, the blast and

nnnn

air hoses. If too large a nozzle is used, low

nnnn

blast pressure and rapid wear on the blast

nnnn

hose will occur. If too small a nozzle is

nnnn

used, smooth media flow will be difficult

nnnn

to achieve.

nnnn

Description of Operation

nnnn

The operator attaches the nozzle to the

nnnn

nozzle holder on the coupled blast hose by

nnnn

turning the nozzle clockwise until the

nnnn

nozzle fully seats and is threaded in place.

nnnn

The Clemco nozzle holder keeps the

nnnn

nozzle firmly installed.

nnnn

All CT nozzles have 3/4" threading and

nnnn

1/2" diameter entry.

With all related equipment correctly

assembled and tested, the operator points

nnnn

the nozzle at the surface to be cleaned and

nnnn

presses the remote control handle to begin

nnnn

blasting. The operator holds the nozzle

nnnn

3 to 6 inches from the surface and moves

nnnn

it smoothly at a rate that produces the

nnnn

desired cleanliness. Each pass should

nnnn

overlap slightly.

nnnn

The operator must replace the nozzle

nnnn

once the orifice wears 1/16-inch beyond

nnnn

its original size.

nnnn
