The external bus interface

1. Introduction

The enhancement of the economicalness and the

flexibility of our hot-channel controllers is a permanent

task. Close relations to our customers in synthetic

materials industry enable us to discuss, define and to

realize new features.

The result is the MCS+ series additional to the series

MCS. A special feature: the controllers e.g. MCS10+

or MCS15+ are fit simply stacking of max. 6 units will

allow to build controllers with up to 90 control loops.

The external bus interface serves common features

like leakage current detection, combined heating etc.

The number of channels may increase in steps of

max. 15 according to the tool. So the number of

unused channels may be reduced to a minimum and

even be used for another tool.

2. Short Description

All MCS+ devices that should be connected to

one control unit are stacked.

This enables a

robust mechanical

unit. The external

bus interface has

seperate input (MCS

IN) and output (MCS

OUT) plugs at the

rear panel. The

output of the upper

device is connected

to the input of the

lower device

(interface cables

are supplied with

the devices). For a

complete unit all

devices have to be

linked this way.

A code switch on the rear panel sets the

internal ranking of the "new" controller unit. The

devices must be adressed in consecutive order

beginning with "0". The "0" device is the

master. All operation is done by the master. The

operation panels of the salves "1", "2" a.s.o.

are disable.

To ensure, that the master may detect all

slaves of the compute unit, the master has to

be switched on at last.
