Compact Belt Tracking
compact belt tracking 11.2013
The Compact Belt Tracking, CBT, will ensure a
correct belt movement and keep the belt within
certain side limits.
With this active tracking device it is possible to handle situations
when the running conditions are not constant. E.g. the product is
loaded onto the belt differently from time to time, temperature
changes or uneven flow etc.
Scope of supply
The CBT is comprised of rollers arranged on a cradle, a frame
holding the cradle, linear actuator acting on wedges, a control box
containing electric equipment for the tracking device and a rotation sensor.
Function description
In order to get a controlled tracking of the belt, the conveyor
frame has to be stiff enough and the belt tensioning system ensures parallel movements of the tension drum bearings.
The tracking effect is achieved by tilting (lifting one belt edge) the
belt. Note that belt running direction does influence the tracking
effect. The belt moves to the side with the lowest tension.
CBT CP81
Placing
The CBT should be placed close to the drive drum or the tensioning drum and on the belt strand entering onto the drive drum or
the tensioning drum. The maximum break angle should normally
not be more than 3°.
The CBT can be placed so that the tilt roller is breaking the belt
inwards or outwards.
Sensors
The CBT needs at least a pair of belt edge sensors to be connected to the control box. Sensor type inductive and “normally
open” is required and the recommended dimensions are Ø12 mm
and 24/230 V.
It is also possible to connect a pair of alarm sensors to the control
box. These sensors enable an alarm signal when the belt edge is
too far out of track and should be placed further away from the
belt edge. Sensor type inductive and “normally closed” is required
and dimensions should be Ø12 mm and 24/230 V.
None of these sensors are included in the CBT scope of supply
but can be supplied as options.
B
When the belt edge is activating an edge sensor, a small logic relay
is controlling the tilting in a pre-defined sequence. The sequence
can easily be altered to suit the actual conditions for a specific
conveyor.
B
Operation temperature range for the compact belt tracking is
from -15º C up to 80º C.
