Determination of Water Content into Oils, Fuels and Solvents
Method derived from the IS09114 :1997standard
The GESERCO WaterTest™ test kit allows for
simple, fast and cost effective determination of
the water content into:
• Mineral oils and petroleum distillates
(engine oils, fuel oils, brake fluids,
gearbox oils...)
• Synthetic oils and lubes
• Bio lubricants and bio fuels
• Vegetable oils
• Aromatic fluids
• Alcohols
• Solid solvent soluble products
(greases...)
The GESERCO WaterTest™ test kit comes as a
light and strong kit which can be used on site by
any non-specialized operator.
Water Presence
The presence of free water in lubricating oils, fuel
oils, Diesel oils... is a major cause of machinery
failure.
Free water degrades the lubricating properties of
the oil, narrows the lubricating film, builds up
oxidation and acidity, minimizes the efficiency of
additives, accelerates surface fatigue, corrodes
components, allows for microbial development...
Test Principle
The test is derived from the IS09114:1997
standard: a reagent is added to the fluid under
test; any water molecule present in the fluid will
combine to the reagent and produce a
proportional volume of gas.
The pressure of the generated gas is measured
by the digital Rapid Oil Test Gauge and the
corresponding water content is displayed.
