nnnnTimeProvider® 5000 is an IEEE 1588-2008
nnnnstandard compliant Grandmaster Clock
nnnnwith a carrier grade design that provides
nnnnhigh client capacity, hardware-based
nnnnpacket processing and redundant hardware
nnnnto deliver scalable performance and
nnnnmaximum network availability.
nnnnWith dual Input/Output Clock cards in
nnnnactive and standby mode, TimeProvider
nnnn5000 ensures there is no impact on
nnnnclient performance when failover occurs.
nnnnRedundant cards provide protection far
nnnnsuperior to "network redundancy" models
nnnnthat must re-acguire synchronization from
nnnna different grandmaster somewhere else in
nnnnthe network.
nnnnProtection of input clock source has become
nnnnncreasingly important. TimeProvider
nnnn5000's new IMC card has support for dual
nnnnGPS inputs. In addition, TimeProvider 5000
nnnnsupports auto-switching of input source
nnnnbetween E1 and GPS based on clock guality
nnnnlevel and user priority settings.
nnnnG.8265.1 and hybrid profiles. Support for
nnnnmultiple standard profiles ensures full
nnnnnteroperability with clients in multi-vendor
nnnnenvironments.
nnnnWith optional NTP server capability,
nnnnTimeProvider 5000 supports the multiple
nnnnvendors and protocols found at mobile
nnnnnetwork base station sites. Both PTP and
nnnnNTP protocols operate simultaneously with
nnnnPTP-based and NTP-based clients. The
nnnntwo ports of an IOC card can be separately
nnnnconfigured, one for PTP and one for NTP,
nnnnallowing the standby IOC card to protect for
nnnnboth protocols. NTP capacity is up to 20,000
nnnntransactions persecond, and PTP capacity
nnnnremains at up to 1000 clients.
nnnnTimeProvider 5000 serves as the initial unit
nnnnin a "rack and stack" configuration with
nnnnTimeProvider Expansion products. These
nnnnunits add capabilities to the TimeProvider
nnnnportfolio. Each Time Provider Expansion 10
nnnnadds 16 Ethernet ports that support SyncE
nnnnas well as PTP, while each TimeProvider
nnnnExpansion30 adds 12 E1 and 12 1 PPS/TOD
nnnnports.
nnnnTimeProvider 5000 also offers a PTP probe
nnnnfunction to enable PDV measurements:
nnnna critical factor for determining PTP
nnnnnetwork performance. The PTP probe mode
nnnnsupports layer 3 unicast, layer 3 multicast
nnnnand layer 2 multicast measurements.
nnnnTimeProvider 5000 can be managed
nnnnremotely and locally via CLI or by SNMP.
nnnnTimeProvider 5000, with hardware-based
nnnntime stamping and packet processing
nnnndelivers high client capacity at full rates
nnnn— up to 128 messages per second — with
nnnnperformance that does not degrade as the
nnnnnumber of clients increases.
nnnnTimeProvider 5000 supports user
nnnnconfigurable PTP profiles; the selection
nnnnncludes default, telecom-2008, ITU-T
