IO-Link is a simple, point-to-point, communication protocol between an IO-Link enabled device, such as a sensor or actuator, and an IO-Link master.
IO-Link advantages
The IO-Link circuit allows the process measurement data,
parameters and diagnostic information to be transmitted
using the standard connection cable. For example, the
pressure measurement can be transferred as a digital value
directly to the PLC. The measurement is more accurate,
free from conversion errors.
IO-Link masters can also store the set up parameters of
their sensors. If the original sensor is damaged, then the
IO-Link master will recognise its "blank" replacement and
automatically download the stored set up into the newly
connected sensor, saving time and avoiding errors.
