Electronic protection against unlubricated
operation (ETS) as compact unit or wall
mounting for fresh water pumps
The electronic protection against unlubricated
operation by using an oscillation fork sensor prevents
unlubricated operation of the mechanical seal and
protects consequently the function of the pump.
An oscillation fork sensor notices the medium level
close to the mechanical seal. It guarantees that the
sliding surfaces are submerged in the medium before
commissioning and during operation.
If the mechanical seal is surrounded by medium, the
motor can start the pump. If this is not the case, the
oscillation fork sensor notices this situation. Then the
electronic system of the ETS X4 / ETS X4 W, which is
installed at a selectable place (for example in a control
panel), prevents starting the motor. Simultaneously a
solenoid valve is activated to discharge the air around
the mechanical seal. Aflow of medium is the result.
As soon as the oscillation fork sensor recognizes the
required medium, the electronic system closes the
solenoid valve and starts the motor again.
A high-grade steel filter prevents a blockage of the
solenoid valve.
A ball valve at the ETS X4 (compact unit) allows a
manual ventilation of the rear wall after cleaning the
filter strainer of the pumps UNIBAD.
The electronic protection against unlubricated
operation is not suitable for ventilating the complete
pipeline system.
The switching time can be changed between 2,5 s and
20 s by a selector to adapt to different conditions.
This time is shown on a seven segment display.
