T70 2 ATEX pushbutton handheld units
have EX approval, which affects the use of
this type of equipment in potentially explosive environments or atmospheres. They
can therefore be installed in potentially
explosive environments with dust or gas.
The only limitation on the certification level
in gas environments concerns acetylene
and hydrogen.
The ATEX Directive (94/9/EC) came into
force on 1 July 2003 and, as of June 2006,
any old or new equipment that does not
meet this standard must necessarily be
replaced.
